Debut ALBUM The Rebel – Out Now!

The Rebel is a dynamic mix of raw energy, intelligent songwriting, and sharp social commentary. The album features newly recorded versions of fan favourites like Black Flag, Red Light Situation, Feeling Lucky, and Out of My Head, alongside fresh material, including the infectious Dance With Love and the thought-provoking A Mandela Of Our Time.

A highlight of the album is the band’s take on Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker. Hayward offers his reflections on the song’s haunting relevance to today’s world, connecting it with The Cides’ ethos of challenging social and environmental injustices.

Recorded over two years since the band’s formation, The Rebel is steeped in the influence of musical legends like Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and the Buzzcocks, while channeling the fiery energy of The Clash. It’s an album for listeners who are ready to wake up and confront uncomfortable truths, not those content with complacency.

 
 

The Cides founder Paul Hayward was the co-founder of The Molesters in the original days of punk.

The Cides’ mission is to raise awareness about the social and environmental injustices we suffer at the hands of a small group of people to whom we have gradually surrendered our power.

We advocate communities where everyone is valued and has the power to decide on the structures, laws and values to adopt: not have edicts forced on us by some monarchy, oligarchy or a hierarchical government that does not act in our interests.

We are supporters of anarchic structures from the roots up such as communities and workers’ organisations etc, as opposed to 'archic' structures (monarchy, oligarchy etc) which consist of top-down governance from the few. By definition, being anti these 'archys', we are proud to say, makes us anarchists.

The Cides has a diverse core family coming from the UK, France and
Portugal. One thing we all have in common is anger against the corrupt unelected individuals who sit at the top of a power pyramid we have allowed to be created. Our music often reflects this anger.

Our singles and videos aim to fight for and support the current generation to reclaim their rights.
