Silence Breeds Violence
All actions have consequences and the act of keeping silent is no exception. Keeping silent about social and environmental injustice is a choice and it plays out at 2 levels: the Media Level and the Personal Level.
Most of us form an opinion on matters of gravitas based on messages from the readily available Media we choose to tune-in to. Back in the day when The Guardian, and to some extent the BBC et al, had an element of unbiased objective reporting about it, our opinions had a reasonable chance of being formed on fact not fiction. But those days are long gone.
Big corporations with their own 'news agendas' own controlling shares and influence in 90% of the Media we rely on for getting 'the facts'. The same corporations own or control the 'Fact Checkers' that ridicule or brand as conspiracy theory any view that challenges the 'facts' they want us to swallow. A good example of the above is the BBC who now openly admit in their annual accounts to taking millions from Bill Gates, one of the biggest shareholders in Pfizer, which explains why the BBC wont go any where near holding a debate about the benefits v the risks of the Covid vaccines.
Payment of lip service to corporate masters means at the Media Level either the facts are distorted or silence reigns. We are constantly fed the corporate media lines to the point where we become hypnotised and cease to ask questions. We know that tens of thousands of children are being killed in Gaza but the BBC glosses over the scale and instead focuses our attention on the tragic loss of 6 children's lives in in the Russia/Ukraine conflict.
The BBC doesn't condemn the loss of so many children's lives at the hands of the Israeli military, it keeps silent and that silence feeds on down to the Personal Level. We keep silent. Giving tacit agreement for it to carry on. its ok to bomb, kill innocent children.
Such is the power of the Media that, when the charity Save The Children or the Great Ormond Street Hospital needs support every one of us digs deep. But for the children in Gaza we do NOTHING!
This track is free to download, but if you fancy supporting us you can buy us a beer – cheers!
