Sean St. Heart - Citizens.am

Can music amplify the reach and impact of a social movement?

I always enjoy my conversations with Sean St. Heart at Coup Save America, we speak with no set agenda and just launch into random and impromptu conversations on whatever current social issues spring to mind. We discuss my early history as a student and budding punk artist, squatting with both friends and strangers in an abandoned Brighton hotel.

We move on to talk about anger at the status quo, the history of the UK’s monarchy and the influence of the Magna Carta on the formation of the United States, and what the heck is the World Economic Forum.

We discuss Israel and broad definitions of antisemitism, mass psychology, the monetization of The Guardian and BBC, the pros and cons of sex education in schools, Bill Gates and digital avatars, mislabeled conspiracy theorists, transhumanism, and where the terms Left Wing/Right Wing came from.
Check out Coup Save America and Sean’s work.

Interview in Reyt Good Magazine (RGM)

RGM have 20 years of history being in and around the music industry and it’s they say it’s the best place to find brand new grassroots music.

Here’s one of the interview questions and Paul’s answer to whet your appetite.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

I like this question. I hate to be ‘genre-ised’. When The Cides started to develop, all the digital distribution channels (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Soundcloud etc.)  wanted to put us in a box – “What genre are you?”

Fuck, if I want to write an acoustic song about love I will. If I want to write something a bit jazzy, I will. Fortunately, given the current state of the world, most of my songs are about injustice; they are sung with anger and passion – that puts me in the  ‘punk’ genre.
